The popularity of this competition amongst our regulars is increasing all the time and Saturday 27 September saw the next sixth monthly event taking place. It proved so popular this time that the fishery had to be closed to Day Anglers !

Perfect conditions for fishing existed and a good days sport was anticipated but this did not happen and it fished quite hard.

David Hoppe caught fish on his first two casts and quite a few fish came out early on but fishing got harder as the day went on. Young Mr. Hoppe was in a good lead for most of the day and it was only Craig Owen that stayed in quite close contention.

By the time the final whistle was blown the winner was known to all and David Hoppe is the only angler (so far) to have won the competition twice. Craig Owen was a very commendable Runner-up with Phil Bethel coming in third.

If only Hoppe could have performed like this in the last Troutmasters final !! Will he win it again next time ? - We only have to wait until May 2004.
