 Ossies Memorial Shield September 2002

Saturday the 28th was the date set for the next instalment of the Ossie Jones Memorial Shield. The competing anglers arrived at the fishery bright and early hoping to bribe the management but to no avail!. The conditions on the day were not favourable as it was bright and still.

The competition started at 9.30 and fish were soon coming to the bank for a couple of the anglers. Sean Bethel had a good start landing 4 fish in quick succession from shallow pool. Dave Phillips was hot on his tail with a brace from Farm pool.

The fishing became a lot harder as the day wore on, however a certain David Hoppe of Mold suddenly turned on the skill and moved into joint first with Sean Bethel at the lunch interval.

When the competitors were eventually dragged away from the pub, the competition continued. Terry Jones lost count of how many fish he lost. Included in them were 2 double figured fish.

The final positions are as follows:

David Hoppe - 1st with 7 fish

Sean Bethel
2nd with 5 fish

Terry Jones & Dave Phillips Joint 3rd with 4 fish

Gareth Griffiths
Biggest fish

As always a social event took place in the evening and many a story could be told, but a good time was had by all.
