 Ossies Memorial Shield May 2002

Saturday the 4th of May saw the second competition for Ossie's Shield - Rob Jones, the current holder, was attempting to retain his title but he was up against 15 keen anglers.

Although not the perfect day weather-wise, given the bright conditions, the pools fished well with 59 fish caught between the 16 anglers.

Fish galore as the competition gets into full swing!

Extra rivalry existed as Neil, representing the Fishery Management Team, put his fishing prowess to the test. Despite a lot of verbal abuse he managed to catch 5 fish - very creditable performance!

Given his current form, the favourite to win was  Sean Bethel  and, true enough, he was the eventual winner with 8 fish.

Ade Lokier  was close behind to snatch second spot and  Danny Jones  was third place with 6 fish.

Pride of place has got to go to Danny Thomas who caught and returned the most gorgeous brownie of about 1lb 6oz.

What a beauty! The fish is OK too!!

A good day was had by one and all - the next running of the event will be in September and, this time, Bryn will be attempting to uphold the reputation of 'The Management'.

1st - Sean Bethel
2nd - Ade Lokier
3rd - Danny Jones

Many thanks to all competitors who made it a very enjoyable day.
