 • THE BIG 'UN •

During April our Fish supplier provided us with a whopper - 21lb of solid muscle - not a Fat Pig as you sometimes see in magazines. Since its introduction it has been seen cruising Top Pool and numerous stories abound.

To date here are some of them:

1) Robbie Allen hooked into the beast and got it under control after going to his backing twice on Pool length runs - His Brother Dave Allen (A Big Fish Expert) came to his assistance to net the fish but as soon as it saw the net off he went on another run and taking the fly with him but Not on the Line!! Disappointment was an Understatement.

2) Mike Vosper had a confrontation with the Big Boy one Friday Night but he's getting crafty (the Fish not Mike) and disappeared around the island spitting out the fly in the process.

3) Terry 'Big Fish' Jones hooked into him on a P.T.N but after doing 4 "Belly Flops" he spat the fly again.

4) Success at last - Dave J Warner late on a Tuesday night caught him on a Black Pennel. Exactly 3 foot long weighing 21lb - What A Fish!! The only downside is that we couldn't take a photo as it was almost pitch black. After successfully returning him to the water Dave was a quivering wreck and it took him a 10 Minute sit down plus a couple of cigarettes to calm him down.

A fish of a lifetime and from now on the "BIG UN" will be called " D.J " Further Tales will be told and hopefully soon, a photo will be taken of " D.J " who can regularly be seen patrolling his patch.

We can now publish a picture of the big fella, along with his daytime captor Gavin Kelly of St. Asaph. The monster fish finally succumbed to a Black Buzzer fished on a floating line and left to swing round with the wind. The line twitched and finally tightened as "D.J." headed off across the lake after sucking the "tasty" morsel down his throat. Not one to go quietly, "D.J." took exception to being hooked and put up a very brave struggle before Gavin managed to subdue him enough to land the big guy and have his picture taken. "D.J." was duly and successfully returned to the water swimming off with a rather disdainful flick of his rather massive tail.
